What is Acetyl Chloride? It is an acyl chloride derived from acetic acid. It belongs to the class of organic compounds called acid halides. It is a colourless, corrosive, volatile liquid. Its formula (CH3COCl) is commonly abbreviated to AcCl. Acetyl chloride acts as a reagent for the preparation of esters and amides of acetic acid. It is also useful as an important reactant in Friedel-Crafts reactions as well as in the introduction of an acetyl group. It serves as a starting material in the production of pharmaceutical, new plating complexing agent, acylation agent and synthetic organic intermediates.
Consistent Quality: We provide only high-quality Acetyl Chloride 98%, ensuring reliable and consistent performance for all applications.
Chemical synthesis
Utilised for acetylation reactions, i.e. the introduction of an acetyl group. Acetyl is an acyl group having the formula −C(=O)−CH3. Two major classes of acetylations include esterification and the Friedel-Crafts reaction.
