Organic Chemistry
Used as a cyclising agent in the synthesis of aziridine, oxadiazole, isoxazole, and pyrazoles, and as a source of nitrogen anions and electrophilic cations.

Disinfectant
It is a widely used disinfectant due to its ability to kill bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores. It releases chlorine, which has a slow and lasting bactericidal effect and can also dissolve necrotic tissue.
