What is DL-Dithiothreitol? It is a chemical compound primarily used as a reducing agent in various scientific and biochemical applications. Its main function is to reduce disulphide bonds in proteins and other molecules, preventing unwanted oxidation and maintaining thiol groups in their reduced state.

Consistent Quality: We provide only high-quality DL-Dithiothreitol, ensuring reliable and consistent performance for all applications.

Shipped from Manchester, UK Facility: Sourced and packaged in non-toxic, chemical-resistant containers to ensure safe handling and preserve product quality during transport.

Frequent Uses

Reducing Protein Disulfide Bonds
DTT is a key reagent in sample buffers for SDS-PAGE (sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis), where it reduces disulphide bonds in proteins, facilitating their separation based on size.

Maintaining Reduced Thiols
Used to prevent the oxidation of thiol (-SH) groups in proteins and other molecules, which is crucial for maintaining their activity and preventing unwanted aggregation.

In-solution Protein Digestion
Used in proteomics for digesting proteins in solution prior to mass spectrometry analysis.

Enzyme Stabilisation
Can act as an enzyme stabiliser by preventing the modification of DNA.
