What is Methylene Blue 4% Solution? It is an aqueous solution of USP (Pharmaceutical) grade Methylene Blue, a synthetic dye with the chemical formula C16H18ClN3S, dissolved at a concentration of 4% in high purity distilled water.

It is widely used in laboratories and at home for various applications, including staining cells, tissues, and microorganisms to enhance their visibility under a microscope. Methylene Blue is also employed as a redox indicator in titrations, where it changes colour based on the oxidation state of the environment.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How much should I take?

Although we specialise in producing specialist solutions, we are not medically trained. If you're looking to ingest any product we sell, we would highly recommend seeking the advice of a medical professional before purchasing. We are supply only so usage comes down to yourselves to use responsibly.

Why do the photos look like the liquid is brown/clear?

The bottles are UV resistant amber glass, they'll look brown even when filled. Our images are taken with water so you can see the internal bottle structure/pipette. The sent product will contain the actual solution which is a dark blue in colour.

Should I get the solution or the powder?

This is completely your decision and purely depends upon how much you like doing yourself. Methylene Blue is messy so the solution can offer a cleaner option at a controlled volume/percentage. If you like to have more personal control over solutions the powder is a great option with the correct setup and storage.

How long will my solution last?

If kept cool and out of sunlight an unopened solution will last a long time. Once opened its worth being aware microbes can grow in the solution if contaminated. Avoid introducing contaminants and follow storage instructions to give the best life to your solution. If you notice things growing in the solution we would recommend following appropriate disposal of any waste and purchasing a fresh batch.

How do I clean up spilled Methylene Blue?

Methylene Blue is a Dye, it's primary function is to colour organic matter. As such it's messy if spilled! The best thing we've found to clean it (depending on surface, always test first) is Alcohol, most commonly IPA(isopropyl alcohol).

How do I stop the dyeing effect?

While we can't give specifics Vitamin C has been shown to neutralise the strong blue colour of Methylene Blue.

How Transparent are we?

We're a long established UK based manufacturer and retailer of stains, solutions and much more. Transparency is core to our business, we don't like nasty surprises and we don't think you should have them either. Our Methylene Blue solution is produced in house, with our certified Methylene blue powder coming direct from manufacturer and our grade 1 distilled water manufactured right here on site.

Is our Methylene Blue Organic/Non GMO?

Methylene Blue is an artifical dry dye, it is manufactured so if you see this on products its likely about as much use as us saying its vegan

I have sediment at the bottom of my solution?

Methylene Blue in a 4% solution is close to the max soluble amount in water, as such you may find after a period of rest some dye comes out of solution. If this is the case give it a good shake whilst firmly closed and this should mix it thouroughly for use. If the solution has been open for a while or stored incorrectly and the particles are floating before shaking it may have spoiled and should be replaced where possible.
