Murexide, also known by its chemical name ammonium purpurate, is a purple compound. Murexide is widely used in analytical chemistry, particularly as a complexometric indicator in titrations. It is especially useful for detecting and quantifying metal ions such as calcium, magnesium, and rare earth metals.
