  • Solvent in the production of paints, coatings, varnishes, adhesives, plastics, and synthetic resins
  • Fragrance and flavouring agent in the production of perfumes, fragrances, and food and beverage products

n-Butyl Acetate is a clear, colourless liquid with a fruity, banana-like odour. It is an ester formed from butanol and acetic acid, and is commonly used as a solvent in a range of industrial applications. It has a boiling point of 126°C, is flammable, and is soluble in water, ethanol, and ether.

n-Butyl Acetate is widely used in the production of paints, coatings, and varnishes due to its excellent solvency properties, which enable it to dissolve and disperse a wide range of organic materials. It is also used as a solvent in the manufacture of adhesives, plastics, and synthetic resins.

In addition to its use as a solvent, n-Butyl Acetate is used in the production of fragrances, flavours, and perfumes due to its pleasant odour. It is also used as a flavouring agent in food and beverage products.

Despite its many uses, n-Butyl Acetate should be handled with care as it can be harmful if ingested, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin. Prolonged or repeated exposure to n-Butyl Acetate may cause eye and skin irritation, and can affect the central nervous system. Therefore, it is important to use appropriate personal protective equipment and work in well-ventilated areas when using this chemical.
