Octan-1-ol is commonly used as a precursor for esters, which are used as flavourings and fragrances in the food and cosmetic industries. It is also used as a solvent in the production of plastics, resins, and coatings. In addition, octan-1-ol is used in the pharmaceutical industry as a raw material for the synthesis of drugs and as a dispersing agent for medicinal substances. Other industrial applications include its use as a surfactant, emulsifier, and corrosion inhibitor.
