What is Potassium Hydrogen Phthalate? It is a chemical compound with the formula C₈H₅KO₄. It is a white, crystalline, and ionic solid, and is commonly used as a primary standard in acid-base titrations, for calibrating pH meters, and in the preparation of volumetric alkali solutions. KHP is also used as a buffer in pH determination and as a standard for total organic carbon testing.
