What is Potassium Periodate? It is an inorganic salt with the chemical formula KIO₄. It is composed of a potassium cation and a periodate anion. It is also known as the potassium salt of periodic acid. Potassium periodate is a strong oxidising agent and is used in various applications, including organic synthesis, analytical chemistry, and as a component in chemical mechanical planarisation (CMP) processes in the electronics industry.

Consistent Quality: We provide only high-quality Potassium Periodate, ensuring reliable and consistent performance for all applications.

Shipped from Manchester, UK Facility: Sourced and packaged in non-toxic, chemical-resistant containers to ensure safe handling and preserve product quality during transport.

Frequent Uses

Analytical Chemistry
It is a useful oxidising agent for determining the presence and quantity of various substances, including potassium and cerium. Also used in the spectrophotometric estimation of manganese in soil and fertiliser samples.

Organic Chemistry
Employed in organic chemistry to cleave glycols (compounds with two hydroxyl groups on adjacent carbons) and oxidise alcohols.

Biochemistry
Used for the selective oxidation of carbohydrates, which is helpful in the study of glycoproteins and polysaccharides.

Electronics
Used in chemical mechanical planarisation (CMP) processes in the electronics industry.
