What is Sodium Phosphate Dibasic? It is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Na₂HPO₄. It is one of several sodium phosphates. The salt is known in anhydrous form as well as hydrates Na₂HPO₄·nH₂O, where n is 2, 7, 8, and 12. All are water-soluble white powders. The anhydrous salt is hygroscopic.

Frequent Uses

Medical
In combination with sodium phosphate monobasic, is used to treat or prevent hypophosphatemia (low blood phosphorus levels). 

Analytical Chemistry
It's employed as a reagent and buffer in analytical chemistry, particularly in chromatography and other techniques. 

Water Treatment
Functions as a scale and corrosion inhibitor by preventing mineral deposits from forming in pipes and equipment and protecting pipes against rust.
