Frequent Uses

Pyrotechnics
Like many other strontium salts, strontium nitrate is used to produce a rich red flame in fireworks and road flares. Its strength as an oxidiser, which eliminates the need for large amounts of an additional chlorine-containing oxidiser, makes extremely pure colors in the orange-red to red color range attainable with simple compositions.

Chemical Reagent
Used as a reagent in various chemical reactions and research studies in laboratories.

Environmental
Can be used to stabilise contaminated sites, particularly those affected by heavy metals.

Ceramics and Glass
Enhances the thermal stability and strength of ceramics and glass.
