Tetrahydrofuran (100ppm BHT) HPLC is a high-purity solvent used in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis. It is tetrahydrofuran (THF) that contains a low concentration of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) as a stabilizer to prevent oxidation and prolong shelf life.
THF is a colorless, flammable liquid that has a characteristic ether-like odor. It is a highly polar aprotic solvent that is miscible with water and most organic solvents, making it a popular choice for a wide range of applications, including as a solvent for polymerization reactions, in organic synthesis, and as a reaction medium for Grignard and other organometallic reactions.
The addition of BHT to THF is intended to protect the solvent from oxidation during storage and use, ensuring consistent performance in HPLC analysis.
