What is Zinc Carbonate? It is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula ZnCO₃. It is a white, odourless, and insoluble solid in water. It occurs naturally as the mineral smithsonite and can be synthesised by reacting a water-soluble zinc salt with sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate. It is commonly used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and various industrial applications.

Manufacturing
Employed in the production of ceramics, glass, pigments, rubber, and lubricants. In glass and ceramics, it improves thermal stability and transparency. 

Pharmaceutical
Features in medications for treating Wilson's disease (to control copper levels) and zinc deficiency. 

Cosmetics
Used in calamine lotion (a mixture with ferric oxide) for its anti-itch and soothing properties for skin. It is also found in some anti-dandruff shampoos.
